The Riak community is more active than ever. Hundreds of companies have put Riak into production over the past several months alone (some names here) and we’ve been expanding our Meetups into cities like Chicago, Philadelphia and London.
Most recently, the inaugural Boston Riak group met at Riak’s Cambridge Headquarters on Massachusetts Ave. It was a great turnout, and the video from this first meetup is now available (below).
In this talk, Robby Grossman, Lead Engineer at Shareaholic, discusses his search for an alternative datastore. Like many before him, Robby decided to go with MongoDB at first, but operationally Robby found several limitations which caused him to re-evaluate the ecosystem, leading him to Riak.
Robby mentions that the Dev team at that time was only himself and one other engineer. The video runs just under 30 minutes with Q&A, so queue up some time this week to watch it, especially if you find yourself on a small team and in need of a robust data store that won’t cause more trouble than it’s worth.
