Training
RICON 2014 will kick off on Monday, October 27 with Build a Cloud Day presented by Citrix Systems. This full-day training is designed to expose attendees to the concepts and best practices around deploying cloud computing infrastructure. It’s a crash course on open source cloud computing covering everything from hypervisor selections to IaaS platforms and application management.
Day 1
Conference sessions will officially begin on Tuesday, October 28 with a keynote presentation from Marten Mickos, SVP and general manager of cloud, HP Helion. Day one will feature the following sessions:
- Alex Heneveld and Duncan Johnston-Watt, Cloudsoft – Using Clocker to Deploy and Manage Distributed Applications in a Docker Cloud
- David Pick, Braintree – Building a Real-Time Data Pipeline with Clojure and Kafka
- Oleg Avdeev, AdRoll – Scale Down! Making High Performance Analytics Easy
- Sean Cribbs, Riak – A Brief History of Time in Riak

During our afternoon keynote, Mac Devine, CTO, IBM Cloud Services Division will present, “The Perfect Storm Intensifies – Distributed Systems at the Convergence of Big Data, Cloud and the Internet of Things.” Tuesday evening we’re hosting a RICON after party at the exclusive MOON Nightclub located on the top floor of the Palms – you won’t want to miss it!
Day 2
Day two of RICON will start off with a keynote by Mark Interrante, SVP of engineering, HP Helion. The day will then feature sessions from the following:
